Not willing to be left out of this year’s celebration of love and romance, some celebrities speak with LIFE&BEAT about their plans for Val’s Day
Kenny St. Brown
Funky gospel singer, Kenny St. Brown, who has got her groove back after six years of separation from her ex, Eddy Brown, plans to have real fun on Val’s Day.
KSB says, “I’m entitled to some loving, abeg. It has been a long time. I‘ll be going out for a candle-lit dinner, chill out and have a quality time with my guy. You can call him ‘Mr Lucky’ as I’m not going to tell you his name.”
Zaaki Azzay
Ever since he got married, St. Valentine’s Day has always been special to torch-bearing singer, Zaaki Azzay. Each year, he celebrates the event in a big way. Certainly, this year will not be an exception.
He says, “Our wedding anniversary falls on Valentine’s Day. Every Valentine’s Day is a celebration for me and my wife. This year, we intend to travel abroad with the kids to celebrate.”
Kaha
Kaha may not be married yet, but he doesn’t intend to spend the Lover’s Day with a girlfriend or wannabe girlfriend. Instead, he looks forward to spending it with homeless children.
“The best thing to do this period is to show some love to homeless kids who do not have anybody to love them. It is not easy for those who even have loved ones, let alone those who do not have anybody. I’m going to spend the whole day with the less privileged,” he says.
Kefee
This seems to be the best of times for Branama crooner, Kefee. She has put her messy divorce behind her and she is now on top of her career and her new business.
Kefee says she will be performing.
“This is going to be on Valentine’s Day mobile Valentine for me as I would be performing that day. In fact, I’ll be moving from one state to another and I will be showing love to people anywhere I go,” she says.
Ronke Oshodi-oke
Popular Yoruba actress, Ronke Oshod-Oke, who is currently on a movie location, says everyday is like Valentine’s Day for her and her man.
“Any day I see my husband, we just do ‘it.’ We do our Val everywhere, whether it is in the kitchen, parlour, staircase, we’re doing our Val everywhere,’ she says.
Goldie
Nigeria’s Lady Gaga, Susan Harvey, better known as Goldie says she will be performing at some shows, but would still find time to go out for dinner.
“I’ll go for dinner later in the evening and spend time with somebody you don’t know and I’m not ready to tell,” she says.
Victor Osuagwu
Victor Osuagwu, a comedian and actor, won’t be deviating from what he is known for doing–cracking some ribs, this Valentine period. Osuagwu tells LIFE&BEAT that he would be going to the Eastern part of the country for a show.
“You know this is a period of fuel subsidy and so many people have been ‘subsidised.’ I’m going to cure them of the high blood pressure and stress. That is how I’ll spend my Valentine,” he adds.
Victor Dejo-Richards
After his marriage to sensational Nollywood diva, Monalisa Chinda, crumbled like a pack of cards, fine dude, Victor Dejo-Richards, found love again and got married to a US-based babe.
His wife is not in the country at the moment as Dejo-Richards tells LIFE&BEAT. But he adds that it will not deter him from celebrating love with his wife.
He says, “Valentine is a time for you to think about your loved one. I thank God for technology. There is Skype, there is BlackBerry and other services. I will spend great time with my wife this Valentine.”
Bob-Manuel Udokwu
Actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu, who is also called Nigeria’s Denzel Washington, became more popular as the anchor of Gulder Ultimate Search. And now, it is even GUS that will make Udokwu not to spend time with his wife this Valentine.
He says, “I will be out of town. We’re starting GUS road show on Monday and it will take me out of town. But this is a secret. I hope my wife doesn’t get to read this; I’ll hide a present for her where I know she will see it that Tuesday. It is going to big a big surprise.”
Gbenga Adeyinka
The self-acclaimed Grand Comedian of the Federal Republic, Gbenga Adeyinka, doesn’t really have much to say about how he would spend his Valentine.
Adeyinka simply says, “I’ll spend Valentine’s Day working and after that, I’ll go home.”
